Today we're marking an exciting milestone in the delivery of a significant SDG project that will deliver new and expanded ministry facilities alongside a stock of new housing in Sydney's north.
The site of St Andrew's Anglican Church at Lane Cove has been formally handed over to development partners Traders In Purple, clearing the way for site preparations and construction.
Once completed, the project is set deliver a brand new, fit-for-purpose ministry centre for the existing congregation, a vastly expanded auditorium space that will also be available for community use, ground level retail, and a supply of new apartments right in the heart of the Lane Cove town centre. The existing heritage chapel on the site will be retained and adaptively reused.
The project is being delivered as part of SDG's partnership with Sydney Anglican Property (SAP) under its Urban Renewal Program.
SDG Managing Director, Richard Ollerhead said he was delighted to see the project coming to fruition: "SDG has been working to deliver a fantastic outcome on this site from the very earliest stages of the project.
"Having first initiated a partnership with the parish, seeing that develop into a sophisticated collaboration with SAP and Traders In Purple that has brought us to the point of construction, is hugely encouraging.
"At SDG we love helping churches to flourish by providing the ministry facilities they need to deliver great gospel outcomes.
"That's the inspiration behind this project and continues to drive the work we’re doing on a number of other sites with SAP and Traders In Purple to serve both the church and local communities."
