Accessible disability housing for people living in Sydney’s Northern Beaches

SDG partnered with Sydney Anglican Property (SAP), For Purpose Investment Partners (FPIP), and Frenchs Forest Anglican Church to deliver three high-quality Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes in Beacon Hill. As part of SAP’s Urban Renewal Pilot Program, this project transformed the former Holy Trinity Anglican Parish site into housing designed specifically for individuals with complex disabilities. Each home was built to high physical support standards, providing safe and independent living for eight residents within a low-density, community-oriented setting.

Construction commenced in August 2023, with SDG leading the project management to ensure smooth delivery. From coordinating consultants and managing timelines to overseeing progress, SDG played a critical role in ensuring the homes were completed to specification. The homes were officially opened in July 2024 by Anglican Archbishop Kanishka Raffel, marking the culmination of a collaborative effort focused on delivering meaningful outcomes for people living with disabilities.

This development exemplifies how surplus church land can be repurposed to meet urgent social needs, broadening the ministry impact of a parish. By enabling residents to remain close to family and essential care services, the Beacon Hill SDA homes offer stability and connection. The project is a precedent-setting model for future partnerships that seek to combine mission-aligned property activation with long-term community benefit.
