SDG successfully delivered concept development and planning services to secure Development Approval for the proposed transformation of Christ Church Bexley into a reimagined ministry and community hub. In partnership with Sydney Anglican Property (SAP), the project aims to unlock the potential of this underutilised but strategically located site in Sydney’s South, with a vision to create a place that meets both ministry needs and provides a broad spectrum of community services through thoughtfully designed, multi-purpose spaces.
Between 2022 and 2023, SDG led a staged planning process that resulted in three Development Approvals. The approved plans include a 250-seat multipurpose hall designed for both church and community use, a generous foyer, commercial kitchen, breakout learning spaces, and flexible meeting rooms. The approvals also covered the construction of two purpose-built Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) homes to support residents with higher care needs, and the refurbishment of the site’s heritage church hall into a 60-place childcare centre.
This project demonstrates SDG’s expertise in navigating complex planning pathways and shaping mission-aligned development opportunities, enabling future activation of the site to serve both gospel and community outcomes.
