SDG has partnered with Sydney Anglican Property (SAP) and Anglicare Sydney to deliver a landmark development on the site of St Paul’s Anglican Church in Bankstown.

Made possible through successful funding under Round 1 of the Federal Government’s Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), the Bankstown project is one of two SDG-led initiatives, alongside a project at nearby Regents Park, that have reached contractual close with Housing Australia in 2025. Together, they will deliver nearly 260 much-needed social and affordable homes in Sydney’s south-west.

The Bankstown development will provide 185 residential apartments—primarily studio and one-bedroom apartments—for seniors, essential workers, and women over 55, along with a four-bedroom rectory for the church’s Senior Minister. Anglicare Sydney will operate the housing and provide wrap-around support services. In addition to housing, the project includes a new purpose-built church and ministry centre for up to 500 people, a 50-place early learning centre, retail and commercial spaces, and a 61-space car park. Shared community spaces across the ground and first floors will encourage social connection and support local needs.

This integrated development reflects SDG’s vision to activate church land for long-term social impact by combining housing, worship, and community infrastructure in a single, cohesive site, while honouring the church’s century-long legacy. Strategically aligned with the NSW Government’s designation of Bankstown as a priority development precinct, the project responds to the area’s urgent need for secure and affordable housing. SDG led the planning, coordination, and submission of the successful HAFF funding proposal and continues to manage the project in collaboration with SAP, Anglicare, and Plus Architecture.
